There's Nothing Crazy About SW Airlines! Nowadays, it's considered inappropriate for any company to have as much fun as Southwest Airlines. But there's nothing crazy about a corporate culture that truly supports its employees, is dedicated to delivering great customer service, and encourages the whole world to have fun with them. Such a simple philosophy; such remarkable results, year in and year out.
Certainly, as Keven Freiberg notes, this is a well run airline; it knows how to control costs, how to give its customers the kind of service that consistently takes care of their travel needs, better than any other airline (they've never lost money in nearly 40 years of doing business!). Above all else, they know how to create the right environment for maximum employee engagement, which in turn, creates the right environment for maximum productivity.
Perhaps the author went a little overboard with the cheesy praise of the SWA corporate culture; not really. The rest of corporate America could learn a valuable lesson: Take care of your employees, have fun, and watch the profits soar. It's really that simple.
An example of process development for sales and customer service I read this book about three years ago and have found that the ideas that were presented were applicable to my business. As simple as "Hire for smiles and train for skills," was a "process' that was easy to teach and easy to follow.
It was an easy read and I have encouraged others to read this book. Traveling on Southwest you can see their processes in action and they match right up with the book.
In a few words, easy to read and good ideas to improve processes and customer satisfaction.

nuts! about this book This product came in just fine when I got it, I was thankfull that I got It the day they said it would be shipped because I really need the book for my class. The book was not intact and it came in good condition just like it said it would. Hopefully this review helps, if it doesn't then sorry. =D
Nuts! Excellent older business book. It describes the environment at Southwest Airlines. Many good business tips. However, it doesn't describe how they got there. It is more of a description of how it is now. I would like to have seen more of the "how do you get there from here?" advice. Easy read.
Nuts About Nuts
This is a great book, not only about the formation of Southwest Airlines, but about life in general. So many of the thoughts expressed are great for everyday living!
