A Must Have A boring boring book that makes it hard to keep information learned inside of your head. It doesn't matter though because you must have it to get a degree in HIM. So suck it up and drive on my friends. We'll get through this!!
A HIT Must Have Any person seriously considering a career in the HIT profession, this is a must have! The book is priceless with the most conprehensive book, which list the entire aspect of this career. I've used it in three courses in my Associates Degree program. Excellent reference book when studying for the RHIT exam given by AHIMA.
Consistent, informative book. I had to read a good chunk of this book for a class I was taking. I felt like the information was presented in a very clear fashion, with plenty of useful and relevant tables and charts, yet still enough text to thoroughly explain the concepts. Of all the classes I was taking at the time, I initially dreaded this one the most, because health information management and technology sounds like a pretty SNOOZE topic (and I've got about 8 music-related books I'd rather be reading).
Surprisingly, though, I began to respect the subject and understand it's importance. As mentioned before, the writing is clear, yet the author doesn't talk down to the reader. No chapter took more than an hour to comprehend (typically 30 minutes). I really can't ask for much more from a textbook (especially one I wasn't too thrilled to be reading in the first place).
If it can satisfy a cynic like me, it can't be THAT bad.
Plus, the information in the 2007 edition has apparently changed little since the 2002 edition. Instead of paying $90.00+ for the former, I paid $2.00 for the latter through Amazon Marketplace...and I still did pretty well on the tests. Ka-Ching!!
You can't beat that!!
one the worst text book that I ever bought I had to purchase this book for my class at community college for RHIT program. And let me tell you if you don't a good professor you won't learn anything from just reading the book.
This book has 20 chapters and each chapter is written by a different author!?? This is a very very bad idea because each author has his/her own unique style and you are 20 different styles in here. There are duplicate in the first few chapter. But that is not the worse part. There are ton and ton of acronyms in each chapter that you will probably never need to know. Acronyms are a needed but there just too many in here. The book is disorganized and the flow is not there (20 different authors). The flow is not there even within the chapter. It seemed like this book was put together by pulling different articles from different magazines into one big book. I had to force myself to keep on reading because it is very hard to continue on. The bottom line is this book is very bad and I don't recommended to anyone.
Health Information Management Technology: An Applied Approach, Second Edition I don't beleave that this book was new. When I finally got it the covers were bent and the paged were dirty. It took way to long to get this book. I ordered all my books at the same time on the same date, I put to expitide this book and I received it over 5 days after I received all my other books.
Personally I will nover use this distributer again. I was very disappointed in there serves.
